About Us
Meet Donnah
Born and raised in Canada, I have been very blessed to be a part of a beautiful multicultural family. My mother from the Philippines and my father from Trinidad & Tobago, it was always about family, friends, church functions, and sports, there are so many memories! I moved to Toronto to go to school for fashion marketing but after school and 4 years working in the industry, I found my love for hospitality and events.
I moved to Denver 13 years ago for love… and yes, we finally got married in 2018!!! It was natural for me to continue my passion within the industry and now with over 19 years working in the catering and events world, I finally decided it was time to become “she boss” and Poised Events was created in 2016. It all sounds so serious, but as you get to know me, I am all about the laughter, the adventure and being in the moment.
When I am not planning events or networking with the best, you can find me either in the gym training for a fitness competition, dreaming of getting back on a motorcycle as I got rid of my baby, Bonneville Triumph to have a baby, a now toddler!! I love to spend time with friends, trying new restaurants, traveling to new places, being a soccer mom, a football coach's wife and ALWAYS taking the time to learn and be inspired.
Meet Alyssa
I am a Colorado native, born and raised; We're a rare breed to find nowadays!! It's been an exciting year, as I finally graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor's in Business Management and I started with Poised Events full time! I have been with Poised from the very beginning, working my way up with Donnah for about 7 years. In doing so, I have found my passion, fell in love with the event industry, and I haven't looked back since!
Donnah has passed along her extensive knowledge of the event industry to me, and I couldn't be more grateful to her, and to be working with Poised. I love being able to build trusting vendor relationships, learn new things, along with watching someone's vision come alive and turn into something beautiful. We thrive in chaos!!
When I'm not working, I love exploring this beautiful place I get to call home! Whether that be hiking, driving through the mountains, spending time with friends and family, or finding new restaurants and breweries (BIG foodie at heart). I'm always up for an adventure!!
Meet Amber
I was born in Colorado Springs where I grew up in a military family which allowed me to travel all around. It was during this time that I really learned the value of a family unit, having structure in your life and the importance of a support system. I met the love of my life in 2015 where we became a blended family of 8. We continue to instill this foundation into our children and show the importance of love to each of them.
With my experience working for a small bridal boutique, I gained incredible knowledge about wedding dresses and the planning process. It did not take long for me to realize that being a Wedding & Events planner was truly where my heart is. Helping others fulfill their dreams and making them come true is the highlight of what I do.
Some accolades I am proud of - I earned the Doctor Mary E Walker award through the military for volunteering my time to be sure the families and soldiers received the support they needed. I am also a Certified Wedding And Event Design & Planning Professional.
I take pride in my accomplishments and promise to give a friendly yet professional experience from the first yes to the final I do.
When I’m not planning, I enjoy spending time with my incredible family and friends by going on walks, working out, fishing, shopping, taking new adventures and watching Hallmark.
